The S.T.I.M. Pack

An autism diagnosis can be extremely overwhelming and expensive. Some of the things that help many autistics are sensory tools that help to manage/prevent overstimulation which can lead to meltdowns and shutdowns. Many autistics who need these tools don’t have the financial resources needed to get these tools on their own.

That’s where our S.T.I.M. packs come in!

Each S.T.I.M. Pack contains over $300 worth of tools and materials which are provided at no cost to autistics in need.

You can learn more about the tools and materials we provide and the specific benefits they provide autistic individuals below.

Receiving A S.T.I.M. Pack

Applications for S.T.I.M. Packs will be available after we’ve completed our first round of fundraising. We want to note that initially S.T.I.M. Packs will only be available for distribution in the United States. It is our hope to be able to expand our distribution internationally in the future when more funding is available to help offset international shipping costs. To keep up with our progress and be notified when these applications open sign up for our newsletter below.

If you have any questions in the meantime please reach out to us directly at hello@thestimproject.org. Thank you!

Educational Books

Each S.T.I.M. Pack will contain two educational books. These books are written by autistic people for autistic people. They provide valuable perspectives and information that is often overlooked or ignored by organizations and medical practices run by non-autistic individuals.

Currently all S.T.I.M. Packs contain these educational titles:

Welcome To The Autistic Community: This book is about what it means to be a part of the autistic community. Autistic people wrote this book. Some autistic people are just learning about their autism. We wanted to welcome them and give them a lot of important information all in one place. This book talks about what autism is and how it affects our lives. It talks about our history, our community, and our rights. We wrote this book in plain language so that more people can understand it. We wrote this book for autistic people, but anyone can read it. If you are not autistic, this book can help you support autistic people you know. If you are wondering whether you might be autistic, this book can help you learn more. If you are autistic, think you might be autistic, or if you want to better understand autistic people, this book is for you. Welcome to the autistic community!”

Sincerely, Your Autistic Child: A diverse collection of autistic voices that highlights how parents can avoid common mistakes and misconceptions, and make their child feel truly accepted, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Most resources available for parents come from psychologists, educators, and doctors, offering parents a narrow and technical approach to autism. Sincerely, Your Autistic Child represents an authentic resource for parents written by autistic people themselves. From childhood and education to culture, gender identity, and sexuality, this anthology tackles the everyday joys and challenges of growing up while honestly addressing the emotional needs, sensitivity, and vibrancy of autistic kids, youth, and young adults. Contributors reflect on what they have learned while growing up on the autism spectrum and how parents can avoid common mistakes and overcome challenges while raising their child. Part memoir, part guide, and part love letter, Sincerely, Your Autistic Child is an indispensable collection that invites parents and allies into the unique and often unheard experiences of autistic children and teens.”

Age-Appropriate Fun Books

These books are written by autistic people and feature autistic main characters. These stories provide authentic representations of autism that are not villainized, nor do they otherwise portray autism as a bad thing. This is a type of representation many autistics have never had the chance to see.
